Help! is this a bedbug?😖

Hi all,
I found this bug sharing my bath this evening! I had been moving and hoovering the matress in the spare room so it could have got on me from there. I am now panicking that it's a bed bug but when I have googled it actually doesn't look like one as seems to have 8 weird legs and no sep head/antenna. It was dead so could also have been in the bathroom, always getting small bugs and spiders! Any ideas? Pic shows both sides and next to a nail for reference!
Have gone through matress with a flashlight, turning and checking bottom too and can't see any other signs.
Thanks in advance!

Tick, I think. Do you have pets?

Msgiggles30 · 28/07/2023 21:16

No pets! I was in the garden of someone with cats and dogs earlier 🤔

It looks almost like a ladybird shape

Louoby · 28/07/2023 21:31

Looks like a ladybug with extra legs. I thought bed bugs were very very tiny almost impossible to see.

Msgiggles30 · 28/07/2023 21:43

Don't think it's a lady bird but is that worth of shape and hard shell. Yes the more I look the less I think bed bug. I think I was just panicking due to the job I was doing just prior!

Pretty sure bed bugs aren't that big. I imagine it just flew in the window.

doingmyutmost · 28/07/2023 21:51

Surely that's a spider with its legs bunched right up?

Tetchypants · 28/07/2023 21:52

I’ve only ever seen dozens (on one occasion, in a bed in Asia after my friend felt them crawling on her) and they were definitely big enough to see, about ladybird sized, especially when they’ve just had a good feed of blood… it was like a horror movie.

Have a good Google but if it is a bed bug there will be more, and that mattress needs to go asap.

It doesn’t look like a bedbug to me as the legs aren’t quite right.

dementedpixie · 28/07/2023 21:58

Bedbugs have 6 legs, not 8

DaisyGatz · 28/07/2023 21:59

Might be the casing of a spider that has moulted? 8 legs suggests some sort of arachnid maybe?

Msgiggles30 · 28/07/2023 22:06

Yes I guess bed bugs probably don't have a hard shell either. So long as it's not some infestation of something I'm happy haha

They do have a hard shell and can be fairly large if they had been there a while

MellowMelly · 28/07/2023 23:04

Looks like what I found under my back door mat earlier and that was a dead spider.

I have seen bed bugs because of where I used to work and that (luckily) isn’t one.

I think it's a curled up spider too.

Raindancer411 · 29/07/2023 20:12

It looks like a spider body and part of the legs
