Can soda crystals bleach the laundry?

I've recently been adding soda crystals to my washing machine and loving the boost it gives to the laundry soap smell.

I haven't been measuring the dose and probably have been tipping too much in.

I have noticed a pair of mid-dark blue denim jeans and a cotton man's work shirt (also dark blue) have some patches of white - as though they have been bleached... could this have been caused by my heavy-handed use of soda crystals?

I also don't rigoursly measure the washing power and usually put too much in. The bleach stains could be that?

It's the soda crystals. Try white vinegar instead.

Not noticed this and I’ve been chucking lots in, as recommended by the washing machine repair guy. For me I find it’s a way also of getting clothes clean with less powder and a side benefit is a less strong smell which is my preference!

Put a teaspoon of soda crystals either in draw or drum of washing machine. I recently read a post that says soda crystals leave bobbling on clothes. I tip my nanny gave me always turn clothes inside out when washing my clothes come out clean and no bobbles. l do dark clothing also inside out they never fade with this method. I never wash my clothes without turning inside out. I also hand or dry inside out its Amazing never have worn look on clothes certainly no bobbling
