do i phone insurers? will they pay for it? will the rain go in my roof now?

I would wait until the strong winds have passed before phoning insurers, do get your policy out and see what extreme weather cover you have.

The rain shouldn't go in your roof as they're is waterproof stuff under tiles normally. Maybe double check by having a peek in the loft?
