White socks

Hi does anyone have any recommendations on keeping socks white?
Glad of the summer holidays to be honest as every one of my DDs socks are nowhere near as white as they used to be.
I've tried soaking in bleach pre wash but didn't make much difference.
Help :-)

I soak dd's in a mix of Vanish and washing powder for an hour or so then chuck more vanish in the wash. Then hang out to dry in the sun.
But they are still going in the bin next week, they've never lasted a year.

Thanks, and yes I agree with black socks 😛 or grey at least
They all end up sorta grey anyway

I find the easiest way is to leave them in the shop and buy coloured socks instead. 😬
