We are about to start laying wooden flooring and are stuck already! The underlay we are using is double layer stuff, silver on one side and foam on the other. Does the silver side go facing up or down? Any help would be grealy appreciated. Dont want to get this wrong! Have done floors before but not using this type of underlay and no instructions in the pack.

Have just checked on the bit I can see by my (yet to be finished threshold) and it looks like silver up - twas fitted by a builder type, not us.

Is it the stuff with the sticky sides?

Good luck.

Yes it is stuff with sticky sides - sounds like yours. Thank you - will get started!

Bugger. I've done mine upside down. I thought the silver side was to stop the damp.

Ah, I'm upstairs with mine (I'd be in BIG trouble if damp up here!)- could be diff if ground floor? I thought it was thermal rather than damp proof.
