What does your DS have in his room? Was it done from scratch like that or did it happen organically, as he grew up? DS's bedroom will be about 4m x 4m.

DS had his own bedroom as a little boy but has been sharing with his sister these past 3 years. Now we are having DD2 to share with DD1 and DS can have his own bedroom. He's not all that bothered and could quite happily continue to share with his sisters, but I'll be working from home 2 days a week from March and I need some proper workspace and thought I could use DS's desk (when we buy one) during the day.

Ds is 10 and his room has just kind of evolved as he's grown.

He has a raised platform bed which has a futon and desk underneath, 2 bookcases, one wall-mounted the other floorstanding, a wardrobe and chest of drawers.

He also has a huge noticeboard and we painted one part of the wall with blackboard paint and on another he has a large world map, which covers the whole wall.

He has a telescope and a beanbag for lolling on when he's reading...erm that's it I think.

Oh, he has a basketball hoop attached to wadrobe door and it's also generally very messy.

Thanks, Tnog. Great idea about the noticeboard and the basketball hoop, DS likes basketball, or thinks he does, hasn't actually played it yet. Maybe at Sportscoach.

I tried the blackboard paint before, when DS was learning to write, I used special blue paint, but it didn't work v well, I don't know why.

DS has a raised bed but doesn't like it anymore as he says he gets v hot up there. I was thinking of a new divan bed as possibly better lasting than a slatted base one. They still jump in beds a lot.
