New Vacuum Cleaner Dilemma?

Please could you all give me your opinions and help me decide?
I currently have a Shark upright lift away, AZ950uk, only 2 or 3 years old still working but not as good as it was and now because something on the base area has broken it won't stand up on its own. It either has to be leant against the wall or it will fall over. Although it's supposed to have a 5 year warranty, I read somewhere that this isn't covered? The replacement part would be about £70.
We had 3 Dysons over 20 years before discovering Shark 6 years ago (that blew up and we changed it for the current one)
I have considered changing to either a Henry Reach (Argos currently have them on a good price with a special offer pro kit with extra heads etc) or a Miele C2 Cat and Dog (again they seem to be on offer in a few places).
Our house is over 3 floors, mainly carpeted, 3 cats and me & 2 DD's with long hair.
DH isn't keen on going back to a bagged vacuum, but if it's a decent reliable product, I'm happy to go for one. How long do the bags last on average?
Would appreciate all your opinions.
TIA

I'm personally not a fan of bagless vacuum cleaners since they are a complete faff to maintain, and emptying the bin is an unpleasant and dirty business. Never mind the cleaning of the filters as well. I have a Miele HX1 Pro that's fine for light duties but the bin is very small so it requires regular emptying. I also have a Miele S8 bagged cylinder vacuum and 4 bags should last a year or thereabouts. The HEPA filter in mine is £30 which needs to be changed yearly and the bags are £13 and they will last a year as well. I would go with the Miele over anything else but it might be worth testing them out in store if you are able to.
