I just came back from holiday from area with soft water and I loved how it made my hair and skin feel. Can anyone from Gloucestershire who has water softener installed give me advice please? Is it worth investing money? Is water in this are so hard that I will notice difference in hair, skin, appliences, bills etc? Any advice highly appreciated.

Try Google BWT water softener, I think they are one of the best.

I'm in a part of the country with hideously hard water. Moved here from super soft water area of Scotland. Had a Harvey's block salt softener installed over a decade ago. Fantastic! No water marks on draining board, bathrooms a breeze to clean, barely use any shampoo, washing up liquid etc. Saves a fortune even when you include the cost of the salt. My hair and skin are fab!

Get a test kit to check the water hardness.

Harvey water softeners, IMHO, are the only ones to have. They are metered (so only consume the salt required for you actual usage), and are made in England.

I love mine, and it was a breeze to install. This and the instant boil tap are probably my two best purchases for the house.

I think BWT is the best. I am using it and most friends that I know attest to its quality. But Harvey is also good though, but i prefer the BWT softeners.
