As the title says... I just spent a lot of money on a Roomba vacuum and Bravo Mop and need to be reassured this was a good decision! We're about to move and I've been thinking about getting one for ages – I was tempted by the free hand held vacuum deal that's currently on.. I've put it on credit with 0% interest and will pay it off over the next few months, but it's still a massive purchase and I'm feeling a bit nervous about it! Please tell me this was a good decision (or if you've had issues with yours and I will return it all asap!!)

Following to find out how it goes for you, because I'd love one! I have cats and it doesn't matter how many times a day I sweep or hoover, there's still fur everywhere downstairs.

GrumpyPanda · 29/06/2023 19:09

Huh. Hate to tell you this OP but a few years ago I was actively looking for a second-hand vacuum and it drove me batty how the only ones ever to turn up in classifieds were those robot types. Sorry. Wouldn't be for me in any case given I'd need to keep the floors clear of any objects at all times.

stanleytheflamingo · 30/06/2023 07:48

@GrumpyPanda uh oh, this wasn’t was I was hoping for! The place we’re moving to would be well suited to a robot vacuum I think as it’s very open plan and quite large. I’m now thinking about returning it all!

Caspianberg · 30/06/2023 07:51

I think robot hoovers are great. But we have an Eufy, which is a fraction of the cost of friends Roomba and ours works just as well.

Hugasauras · 30/06/2023 07:53

We just have mid range ones but it's amazing. We have one upstairs and downstairs and they go out every day. I would replace either of them immediately if they broke.

MostNormalWomaninBritain · 30/06/2023 07:58

We have a Roomba and it’s fab. Very pleased with it.

GAME CHANGER

FrenesiGates · 30/06/2023 09:32

@Caspianberg @Hugasauras @MostNormalWomaninBritain @00100001 Thank you! That all sounds very promising! Do any of you use the robot vacuum or robot mop on limestone floors? We have timber floors upstairs and limestone downstairs. I'm feeling a bit better about the purchase now :) I'm assuming I can just move it between upstairs and downstairs and have more than 1 level mapped?

@FrenesiGates - ours is mainly wood floor. But tiles in large entrance hall and no problem. I think carpets may be tad different. Although ours goes over rugs no problem also.
We keep it downstairs as charge dock is under sofa hidden. But I just take it upstairs and let it loose to Hoover under the beds and upstairs every so often and it’s fine. It never runs out of charge upstairs.

We still have handheld for regular toddler crumbs, and main hoover to do skirting and stairs and behind bits occasionally. But Eufy does 95% of hoovering now

FrenesiGates · 30/06/2023 10:41

@Caspianberg that's really good to know! I'm now really looking forward to setting it up. I hadn't even thought about how it would be easily able to hoover under the bed! That's one of my most hated jobs and is where all the dust seems to accumulate. I got a package that included the vacuum, the mop, and a hand held – I'm hoping that used together it will pretty much eliminate the need for conventional vacuuming and mopping

OP would love an update!

Of course! So the roomba and the mop haven't eliminated the need for regular vacuuming and mopping – but I don't regret buying them at all. They are used weekly and the roomba in particular I find great for getting into places (like under beds) where I can never be bothered to vacuum. Overall I feel the house is a lot cleaner than it would be without them! I use the mop to do areas that aren't really in need of a proper mop but wouldn't use it for the kitchen, for example. They both seem to have lasted well too – I've had them for over a year now without any issues.

With my robot vacuum I found that instead of having to hoover every day, it was every few days for the edges. No regrets!
