I must have missed the lesson but how on earth do you keep children’s socks white apart from
buying new?
Ive tried bleaching them in a bucket.
I’ve tried boiling for an hour on the stove with soda crystals
Any tips appreciated please
oh and also suncream collars - I’ve scrubbed with fairly liquid but still stained

Gahhhh. I have even tried a nail brush with all sorts on them. Still gross

Soak them in Milton and cold water .

Buy cheap ones and replace them often. Primark is good for cheap socks that don't last long.

I wash white socks with my white towels only at 60 degrees and never had issues, but they are never super dirty.
I guess the question is what makes them dirty? do the kids play outside without shoes?

Theoldwoman · 24/06/2023 06:04

I don’t do any of that and all ours a crystal white. I wash them in with sheets or towels on 60 degree with Aldi powder and a bit of Napisan. No colours ( even very light ) are allowed in.

Line dry in sun when possible.

Thankfully I only deal with them for summer uniform. I love the look of white socks but grey is so much easier!
Every weekend I soak them in a Vanish mix for 6 hours then wash and mostly they come out fine.

It's not the soles that are dirty for us, but at the top of their foot where the shoe dosent cover- between the toes and the strap near the ankle. Dust from playground maybe?

Haven't had any suncream issues though we dont have white shirts either!

A load of whites including towels on a 60 with vanish white mostly does the trick. I also buy fairly cheap white socks and must buy about 30 pairs through the summer as I hate them wearing coloured socks in the summer.

Hot wash - 60° and buy a new sun cream that doesn't stain next time you buy new white shirts.

Easy to keep whites, white. As long as you don’t wash them with colours, if you can’t, then use a couple of colour run sheets.

Yeah, right.
