Urgent help needed here. After washing them all I put all my sons school t-shirts in bleach for a soak and they've turned bright pink! According to Google it's a reaction to sun cream. Has anyone managed to fix this? He needs a top for tomorrow!

I don't think there's any hope for that tbh!

RIP shirt

I think you can safely give up on that particular shirt! It would be a race down to the 24 hour Tesco for some plain polos for me.

If anyone has any tips for getting sun cream yellow stains out of white sheets (thanks dd), I’d be delighted.

Arghhh not what I wanted to hear!

Wash and leave damp in bright sunshine. Remarkably good at minimising all sorts of stains

Sorry, I don't think that's for saving. If you don't have a spare, buy another quick!

They're all there - some are worse than others. My neighbour is lending me one of her sons for the morning then I'll get some more. They've all been through the wash already as well. Either I have a terrible washing machine or that is incredibly good suncream!

It will be fine! I did this to a white top of mine. It dried over night and was no longer pink.

Happening to loads of people who have just got back from Download Festival, if you wash it again it will be a bit better from what I've seen them try.

Happened to me with a white shirt, dried it in the sun and it disappeared.

Same with my outdoor cushion covers, they had a little bit of mould on so I sprayed with mould spray which turned bits pink after washing, again left out in the sun and it disappeared.

BeverlyBrook · 13/06/2023 21:24

Which sun cream was it?

AgentAfricanGrey · 13/06/2023 21:24

As pp have said, hang them to dry in the sun and they will be fine. Next time soak them in Milton sterilising liquid (1 tablet for every litre of water) for a few hours before washing. Add a scoop of Napisan powder in with your regular washing detergent then hang in the sun to dry. Crisp bright whites every time.

I found the perfect solution.
I took a earbud and put 2-3 small granules of pool chlorine on the pink area. Rubbed it and rinsed it quick with fresh water. It went white immediately.
