Best way to clean an oven

My oven is filthy. It needs a really, really good clean. What is the best way of doing that? I've found the kit things a bit useless in the past.

Same question regarding a microwave - what's the best way to clean the inside of that?

Thank you!

I can't think what it's called but I get a cleaning spray from b&ms. I coat the inside of the oven. Shut the door and leave the house cause it smells potent. Then by the time I get back it's just a wipe clean job. Takes everything off.

Thanks @defi - I can get to a B&am tomorrow so will have a look for it

Bicarbonate of soda and vinegar
sprinkle on
spray on vinegar (or slosh on!)
wipes off

Book in an oven clean, let them do their magic.

Dampen the edge of a dishwasher tablet and scrap at the glass door with it. It's the easiest way ever.

Can you get someone in to do it?

Novella12 · 11/06/2023 16:34

Thanks all. Getting someone in to do it is very tempting.

For a microwave, I cut up a lemon or lime (great if you have one languishing at the bottom of the fruit bowl and going a bit soft) and put in a Pyrex jug of water. Microwave it for 5-6 minutes, then remove and wipe the inside clean. Helps with cooking smells too.

for an oven, I’d google someone to clean it and get them booked in.
