Static caravan toilet

Firstly, apologies if this is in the wrong topic. I need some advice from anybody who has or knows a bit about static home toilets and drainage systems. We are on holiday staying in a static with our 2 dc and DH woke up at 5.30 with a terribly upset stomach (praying its not noro!) He has blocked the toilet! Every time we flush it refills. Dh is feeling better and said he would go out and buy a plunger, and I suggested some bleach. DH says it will be a chemical toilet and is it OK to put bleach down it? I always take hospital grade cleaning wipes with us everywhere we go but they won't tackle this. We have two toilets so we are just using the other one but there is no way I would leave tomorrow with the toilet in the state its in, what can we use to clean the bowl? I have tried to google but not really found any information on static toilet cleaning. TIA

Aren't most statics connected to the mains waste system? i.e. just a normal toilet system?

nebulae · 26/05/2023 10:04

Yes I think it'll be on mains waste. If it was a chemical toilet there would probably be a sticker/notice telling your what you can and can't put down it.

Hesitant to ask but what is the cause of the blockage? Poo or paper?

Lizzt2007 · 26/05/2023 10:14

Is it a holiday park or a single static on a farm ect? If it's a park it will be mains, if a single could be a septic tank. Either way realistically the sensible thing to do is report it to the owner/ company. They'll have someone for maintenance and should be able to sort it easily. Don't assume it's you that have blocked it either, it's quite possible there's been an earlier blockage that's just now backed up fully.

Thanks for all replies, it's on a very large park but with a private owner rented via Airbnb. I think its more paper its blocked with @nebulae although we have only used the paper provided.

Sorry @121gigawatts , only just seen your reply. Hopefully you've airway sorted this but if you haven't...

If it's blocked with paper I think you'll struggle to shift it yourselves. Suggest you contact the Airbnb host, they should be able to arrange for the maintenance team to attend.

Hi @nebulae thanks for reply, dh poured some bleach and hot water down there and we went out, when we came back it wasn't backing up anymore and he was able to give it a good clean. We reported to our host and just avoided using that toilet as we had two. Hopefully all was OK today when we left. I also told him to give the whole bathroom and door handles a wipe with clinnel wipes just incase it was a bug, nobody needs that! Although he thinks perhaps some dodgy food or swallowed some pool water.
