Seagull crapped on our washing

All the washed whites on the line have had what looks like a really bad nappy flung all over them. Google told me this is seagull shit.

Also that it would be illegal for me to murder the culprit. Have rewashed immediately. Brown shite stains remain. WWYD?

My sympathies.

I was once waiting for a bus when a seagull shat on me. Had to go home and shower and get changed and was very late for work. It was really distressing - so much worse than pigeon poo.

Bastard!

I’ve seen on social media some absolute wizardry involving absolutely filthy white washing (socks, stained babygros etc) brought back to clean white after soaking in bleach. Or maybe Vanish and then bleach? Sounds scary but I’d be tempted to do some Googling for instructions on how to do it properly.

User17865 · 22/05/2023 21:30

This is why I never dry anything in the garden. They’re absolutely everywhere near me. The car is always covered in it.
I’d spray stain remover on it and use a full scoop of Vanish for whites and wash as hot as possible, my washer goes up to 90°.

HaretonEarnshaw · 22/05/2023 21:32

I’d happily stuff that bloody seagull in the washer at 90 degrees

A seagull attacked me and stole my ice cream last year.
No advice about the washing issue , just that the thread brought back the trauma of bastard seagulls.

HaretonEarnshaw · 23/05/2023 14:04

OK hoping that the sun will fade it a bit then I’ll nuke the stains again with some Vanish.

How can one bird cover such a lot of washing from several angles tho? Question for the ages there

I was once attacked by a gull because I inadvertently wandered too close to its nest.

They attack by forceful shitting and vomiting on their victim.

Not pleasant.

PickAChew · 23/05/2023 14:11

I seem to get crapped on by the buggers every couple of years, or so. Vile.

SpringGreensPreens · 23/05/2023 14:12

‘Vanish Oxy action whitener and stain remover’ might do the trick, it’s very good, although admittedly I’ve not tested it on pigeon poo!

GrumpyPanda · 23/05/2023 14:20

Did you do a warm wash? Unfortunately that may have set in some of the, um, biological residue by affecting the proteins. Had to deal with poop in an antique-style carpet the other day and the recommendation was gingerly treatment with cold water and detergent for woolies, then remove with carbonated water.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 23/05/2023 14:28

This stuff, mixed with neat Fairy Liquid. Leave on as a paste for an hour or so (don't allow to dry, as the Fairy will stain if you do). Then soak in water with more Borax Sub and FL for a few hours unless there is anything that will shrink Then wash, then hang outside on a sunny day.

Thanks everyone. I think judging by some swoopyness today on the street, there could be a nest around here somewhere Hmm
I wonder how long there’s going to be an arsey seagull (or two) on the loose for?

We get lots of seagulls. The sun will bleach out the stain.

HaretonEarnshaw · 24/05/2023 17:59

Thank you. Vanish didn’t cut the crap unfortunately. Hoping the weather stays good!
