Grotty iron soleplate

Does anyone have any good tips for cleaning the sole plate of an iron please? Mine has black crap on it which is causing a bit of havoc when I'm trying to iron things. Thanks!

You can buy an iron cleaner paste from Lakeland.

Yes, the stuff from Lakeland is brilliant.

Don’t waste your money on anything fancy
paracetamol cleans it off

heat up iron and rub paracetamol on it
it melts all the shit stuck to the bottom of iron literally wipes off no scrubbing or scratching

Just to update - no time to head into town to get a cleaner from Lake land so I tried the paracetamol with iron on full heat. Did the trick - the crap just dissolved instantly! Thanks all for your suggestions

Excellent! I've had a tube of the Lakeland stuff for years but when it runs out I'll try the paracetamol.
