Washing machine not working

I know it's a long shot. But maybe this has happened to one of you ...
A couple of weeks ago, our washing machine stated not starting when pressing the start button, but would go straight into Pause position. So we'd have to press Start again, and then it was working.
Today, pressing Start twice isn't cutting it any more. The Ready light is on, but the Wash light keeps flashing and nothing is happening, despite me turning things off and on again, selecting different programmes etc. The manual says nothing about what flashing lights mean, and I can't find anything online, other than that the door doesn't lock. But the door is definitely clicking into place just like always.
Any ideas?

Not sure what machine you have or what the lights mean. Could the drain or filter be blocked? Is the water supply switched on?

The water is switched on. If there was a blockage, I yhink there would be water leaking out from underneath, or jot drain from the drum. But that's not happening.
My DH has just pointed out that the click I hear when shutting the door, is only the door shutting, but jot the clock where the machine then locks the door so that it can't be opened any more. So that's probably whwre the fault is. Will call someone about that.

It's a Beko machine.
We've had someone here who has installed a new lock for us, and now it's working again. Hallelujah!
