Clear glass can look green so make sure you are happy with it before you attach it and had stainless steel everywhere before that it it was a nightmare to keep looking nice. If you can find glass you like I would say glass. Very easy to do yourself.

Actually I know someone with that "magic" stainless steel that doesn't mark and it looks fab.

oooh is it easy? I know about the green thing and that's cool with me, I need two pieces of glass and a double socket hole in one of them. I suppose I could stick it on the wall myself but if I fuck it up ..... thinking aloud here .....thanks for the tip

I did mine by just using a very small drill bit first and lots of masking tape. I am known as "Barney Bodge-it" within my family though. My glass was cheap as it came the right size (put the kitchen in the right place for it to fit), don't know if I'd fancy it if I'd had to shell out for glass cut to size with a hole in it!

indeed, it's the hole that's the tricky thing
also the wall is a steel frame with gyprock over it, I wouldn't want to stuff it up .... I will pay someone who is insured and accountable

thanks for the tip

Glass - its so much easier to clean than stainless steel (which is infact anything but)
