Dual-function vacuum cleaner that can shampoo carpets?

Are they any good and if so, which one would you recommend?

We have a Bissell Crosswave - well had, because it's ended up in daughter's house. Not too heavy and easy to clean. We bought extra rollers from Amazon. Daughter buys the Bissell stuff but I used to use a solution of bio washing liquid which worked just as well.

Disadvantage was that other people in the house would use it and leave it with dirty water and dirty rollers in it. I got fed up cleaning it then, but it's easy if you do it straightaway.

Wouldn't use as only vacuum cleaner though because it didn't have attachments for edges and corners (or at least, I don't remember them).

Thanks, that's useful, I didn't realise it might be a hassle to do the dirty water and brushes.... I can see the same scenario happening in our house. Would you recommend buying a good hoover and a separate carpet washer instead?

So, after you've used it for vacuuming, you could leave it - that said, tiny collection container. And if you washed your floors/carpets, you would empty it, rinse and dry rollers. If you're only using the washing function occasionally, it's low maintenance.

Our issue was that it would be used to wash the floors, clean up after a spill or whatever and left. The rollers would be left damp and dirty and dry manky. It's not a big deal - empty dirty water, unclip and rinse rollers and leave them to dry somewhere. But other people didn't do it, so.

Daughter really likes it and washes over her carpets once a month. Never uses it as a vacuum cleaner because she already has one she likes.
