I've tried baking soda and toothpaste, not lifted it at all. Help !

Hopefully I’m wrong and someone else will offer a magic solution… but I don’t think that’s coming off, sorry OP.

we had a laminate worktop damaged in the same way when I lived at home. It sounds like you have burnt the worktop which has permanently altered the finish.

do you have a photo? Maybe that would help someone to come up with a solution for you.

That's on for the duration, the plastic is scorched.

FrogFairy · 18/04/2023 18:48

All you can do is over up the scorch mark with something like a chopping board, a trivet or worktop protector (sorry for the ironic suggestion)

Someone like this might be able to help, although the cost might be higher than a new one?

No help at all, but DH did this and we put a nice glass chopping board over it 🤣

AnnaMagnani · 18/04/2023 19:09

Get very large metal trivet. Put it over the ring and leave it there.

Will cover the ring and also stop any more damage. You can claim the trivet is a design feature.

You can repair it or cover it but it can't be cleaned.
