Robot Vacuum

After a thread yesterday where lots of people recommended robot vacuum's I have been obsessed with looking at them!

I was originally thinking one that hoovers and mops would be fantastic. But I'm not sure how good the mop part would be. Would it be a bit like pulling a dirty cloth around the house?

Now I'm thinking one that has an empty station and a lot more capacity to just hoover might be the thing.

I've a decent size bungalow so it could go everywhere. All floors are hard/ laminate or tiled. I do have an entrance mat and a soft sponge playmat covering the sitting room. Not sure I'll bother having it go into the bedrooms.

If you have one, which one do you have? Do you love it?

We have a Eufy which is great for a quick wizz around. Still need the dyson to get right into the corners though. DD had one that mopped and it wasn’t that great. One word of warning if you have pets - don’t set cleaner to sweep up whilst pets are unsupervised e.g. overnight. A friends pet unfortunately had a toileting accident which the vacuum proceeded to spread around! Took days to deep clean everywhere and the cleaner had to be dumped!

I've got an eufy (well 2 as the 1st broke and DP took it away to fix it and I got fed up of waiting, then the week I got a new one he brought the old one back fixed! So new one is downstairs and old one upstairs).

Downstairs goes every night at 2am, it does lounge, playroom, hall, dining room, kitchen & conservatory.
Upstairs goes twice a week in the day, I make sure the floors are clear and doors open before I go to work.

I don't vacuum these areas separately, the robovac does a more than adequate job for me.
I do have to vacuum the stairs, do the utility (not on the scheduled cleans as dog sleeps in there - sometimes I just put the eufy in there for 5 mins, but it's as quick to run the cordless over), door mats, high up cobwebs etc.

I also have a separate robomop, I go in fits and starts of using it but when I do it goes on 2 or 3 times a week before I go to work.
It has a mopping pad and sprays water/solution onto the floor as it goes.
It needs to be used regularly to keep on top of stubborn stains, but works well when I do use it regularly.
It's more effort as it needs filling, setting up etc. But much easier than mopping myself (hall, downstairs loo, dining room, kitchen, conservatory & utility).

@bouncydog oh no! I've heard of horror stories like that. Dog man is fully trained but you never know.

@Chasingsquirrels do you know which one you have? There's loads to choose from! I don't think I need the turbo power ones since I have no carpets.

We got one with a mop and never use the mop part - use the vacuum part every day though

savoycabbage · 18/04/2023 22:45

I've got three. Two with mops which I've never used.

The best one by far in Prosenic. It empties itself and it's really powerful. Nest is Roomba. It's bottom of the range but it's still really good. Absolute rubbish is Eufy.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 18/04/2023 22:47

I’ve got the mop/vacuum Eufy. The mop is only like wiping the floor with a damp cloth, so it doesn’t replace a proper mop. I like it because I get hay fever, and daily mopping in spring/summer helps reduce pollen in the house (naturally I’m too lazy to mop properly every day), but I wouldn’t have bothered otherwise. Love the vacuum though.

MsJuniper · 18/04/2023 23:22

I love my Eufy. Absolutely hate cleaning but can really see the difference to the house and it forces us to be a bit tidier! Gets into corners more than I thought it would.

I'm sure there are higher range options but I bought mine as an Amazon 2nd and it was much more affordable than I expected (arrived fully boxed and looked unused.)

loveclipbook · 18/04/2023 23:53

I recommend the Roborock S7 which mops and hoovers at the same time. It is especially good if you have a large tiled area which needs mopping.

loveclipbook · 18/04/2023 23:54

It is also worth getting the auto-empty dock.

Eufy 30 here. Very happy with it - he potters around quite happily bouncing off things.
Tends to get stuck on the cat scratching post base and needs a nudge.
