Cat wee on the carpet - how can I get rid of the smell

Poor cat got locked in the lounge over night. Had a pee and a poo on our leather cushion but some got onto the carpet. It stinks - any advise would be most welcome!

Have been told that tea tree oil and salt left on and then hooveered off when it has all soaked up is good. Certainly worked for ds's accidents.

Either bicarbonate of soda left to dry then hoovered off, or tonic water. Both are miraculous.

thank you! I shall definately try both suggestions. The smell is just awful and it wasn't even much wee.
