40 minutes to clean bathroom

Why does it take me so long every week???

I spray and scrub the sink and mirror and leave the Method cleaner to work. Then same with the shower unit. Which is shower panels and glass. Then I clean the toilet.

Then I go back and scrub again and rinse the sink and shower unit and use a squeegee and shining cloth on the chrome and glass.

Bleach in loo, and bith plugholes. Dettol wipe flush and door handles.

Then I hoover and mop the floor.

It's small and we squeegee the shower screen every day. Hard water area.

I'd like to do this in 30mins but it always takes longer.

What am I doing wrong???

You're either going too slowly or being too thorough

Ted27 · 10/04/2023 23:20

why do you need to ‘scrub’ twice?

Not even sure why you would be scrubbing a mirror? is it really that filthy if you are cleaning every week?

TenacityWins · 10/04/2023 23:26

Second scrub more of a wipe to get rid of limescale and water marks.

I do everything apart from inside the loo with a dish matic and dish soap. I then use a microfibre cloth to dry and buff. I do it most days it's never 30 minutes! The floors I vacuum and mop when I'm doing all the floors but not that often. Once a fortnight maybe. I'm obsessed with cleaning.

Sunnysidegold · 12/04/2023 21:59

You may e need a stronger spray to tackle the limescale? Even white vinegar would help?

I tend to squirt stuff round toilet rim, spray mirror, spray sink and then go back and clean loo after everything has had time to "dwell". Then wipe mirror, buff with dry cloth, wipe sink and shower. It's about twenty mins, unless I'm giving the shower floor a really good scrub, which is every other week really.

DiabolicalDee · 12/04/2023 22:05

It takes me 40 mins to do properly too

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 12/04/2023 22:13

I don't do it properly and it takes more than 40 mins.

I've got a brush bit for a drill to try and shift the limescale but haven't got to that yet.... Because that's going to take more than 40 mins.

tokyotea · 12/04/2023 22:26

Mine takes about 40 mins too

Fantina · 16/04/2023 15:37

Mine takes at least an hour but I don’t do a proper clean every week. That includes getting into the dusty crevices of the door and wiping down each bar of the radiator and removing every toiletry product and wiping it down and not putting them back until everywhere is dry. I hate cleaning the bathroom but love it when it is done!

Fantina · 16/04/2023 15:38

In between deep cleans I empty the bin, wipe the sink and clean the toilet

Bathrooms always take so much longer than I think they should.

I agree though Viakal is really good for limescale.

ohpumpkinseeds · 29/02/2024 08:42

Takes me about 20 minutes? Spray bath and shower and sink with bathroom cleaner. Put harpic down the loo. Go over bath and shower with cloth, and rinse. Scrub toilet and flush it, then spray the rest of the toilet with bathroom cleaner and wipe it over. Spray outside of shower cubicle with glass cleaner, and mirror, and buff off. Use same cloth to buff taps, flush panel and shower controls. Hoover floor and mop. Done.

Cilit bang or Viakal for limescale but takes me long too, so much limescale.
I wash the whole thing with dish soap to take care of grease with a scrubdaddy scourer (youtube cleaner) then limescale remover and bleach for loo and plugholes.

I clean the bathroom as soon as I get out of the shower. Bath, basin, worktops, toilet seat, bowl is cleaned after use, for any poo, several times a day. I go over the mirrored wall cupboard and tiles, with the battery window cleaner. Weekly, window sill, and window frame, towel rail, skirting boards, cleaned
Plants watered. Floor vacuumed and washed. Clean towels, flannels replaced. Takes a few minutes, because I don't let it build up.
