Hard wearing waterproof floor for bedroom?

TreeBlindMice · 04/04/2023 22:26

I need the replace a bedroom/study carpet
Would like some waterproof surface that stands up well to wear & tear + the occasional spill + is easy to clean.. might have withstand the occasional pet accident :(
ideas so far -

  1. laminate. Have this in another bedroom that is pet free. Am worried it might not withstand a pet accident
  2. Lino style .... don't know much about it
  3. Rubber? Know nothing about this.

Any ideas welcome....

You can get rubber flooring for horses stables. Either rubber mats with drainage capabilities (which may just be the gaps between them) or liquid rubber that'll seal your floor wall to wall and be more permanent. The mats won't be the easiest to clean due to having a surface to provide grip for shod horses hooves, usually shallow grooves or speckled with raised dots and if you mopped it you'd have to do it without much water because if it goes underneath it's going to take forever to dry out and you're going to end up with rotten floorboards. Image the same would be true for laminate, it's not completely waterproof is it? I've never seen liquid rubber laid down so I don't know what the surface looks like ie how smooth it can be for easy cleaning.

I'd go for karndean type stuff ( posh lino) it looks nice is hardwearing and easy to clean

Thanks both... on the Karndean stuff... would it withstand the occasional cat accident? Or would an accident seep through?

(Very old cat)

It’s waterproof so should be fine. You can clean it and reseal the floor (you should do this roughly every 6 months anyway) If there was any staining.
