Laundry liquid dosing

What gadget exists, if any, to prevent whoever it is amongst my family who pours vast quantities of laundry liquid into the washing machine drawer? We are replacing the large bottle of liquid fortnightly, and it needs to stop! Nobody admits overusing it, obviously (Although I suspect youngest ds).

I can't think of a solution, any entreaties have fallen on deaf ears.

TIA

Do you have a dosing ball to put in the machine?
Have you shown everyone how much to use?
Or put the detergent somewhere they can't access

My oh is like this. We get the super sized ones from Amazon that say 411 doses on them or sumsuch so it should last over a year. Poooof gone in a month or so. And it gums the machine up real bad 😞

greenacrylicpaint · 27/03/2023 17:43

Shock doesn't that end up in a foam party?

how about detergent sheets? or <dare I say it> pods?

Cookerhood · 27/03/2023 17:48

Powder? Isn't liquid incredibly bad for the machine?

I don't have a dosing ball but I have shown them. It's just laziness, I think. I was hoping to find something with a pump action for 30mls or whatever, as they'd be too lazy to hang around long. It's my 18 or 20 year old, I think! No foam, but I do notice that after a wash there is still blue liquid in the drawer sometimes. I could put a lock on the utility cupboard but I'm too lazy to keep plodding to them to dole it out. And I'd resent it.

Pods are good but they're not cheap, are they?

The supersavvyme website which is just an unusual name for the proctor and gamble website will send you a free liquid dosing cup/ball.

Pods are probably cheaper than massively overusing liquid.

Powder is cheapest though, and might solve the issue.

Thank you all
