G Tech air ram, lack of suction?

I’ve had my G Tech air ram hoover (I think it’s a mk 2) for about 4 years, and I’ve always rated it over my previous Dyson. However, since Christmas, it’s really lacking power and suction (I did have a real tree, so perhaps I overworked it with all the needles..) I replaced the brush bar and filter, with slight improvements, but it still isn’t picking up as well as before, and doesn’t seem to have the power to get the dust as far as the bin part, instead it just builds up behind the brush bar.
I’m debating a new battery (because maybe more power equals better suction??) but I’m not technical enough to figure if that’s a good solution, Google doesn’t really answer the question, and it’s £70 wasted if I’m wrong. Has anyone tried it and does it work? Alternatively, any recommendations for a new vacuum?

Is there a blockage somewhere? I had this with 2 different vacuums that stopped performing well. (I used a chopstick to reach and clear one of the blockages. The other had a small piece of cardboard that got caught and blocked it.)

I would have thought if it was the battery, it would be cutting out or not lasting very long.
