I can't be bothered to scroll through what I already said but the bedroom reshuffle finally started, my plan was; empty room,
clean/decorate, move back/in appropriate person's stuff whilst decluttering that stuff, like a mini house move I was looking forward to it but my help has disappeared and physically cannot move furniture myself so things are worse than they were I'm not going to lie I'm disappointed. had my time wasted again on olio too. been working 4 days again so v. low energyGP soon

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 12/06/2023 15:43

Freecycled a large baby bouncer and put 3 things in the fabric recycling. Total now 495.

Been slow here - just had a week off work but everyone has been ill so couldn't get any clearing out done. I'll be working away this week so hopefully by the time I get back I'll have more eBay sales to post.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 12/06/2023 16:49

Old oven gloves binned, some inflatable toys rehomed and a broken bra chucked away.

Might get back in the garage as its the only cool place in the house!

IndianSummer78 · 12/06/2023 18:26

Holey knickers binned

And:

3x shirts that sadly don't fit on upper arms
2x jeans too small
1x dress that won't go over my hips 😳

All gone to the charity bag.

Total is 525

Pigtailsandall · 12/06/2023 20:18

I listed and immediately sold 2 beach wraps which I took on my 2 week holiday and NEVER once wore. I thought if I don't find a use for them at a holiday trip which they are literally designed for, then they are clearly not for me.

But I made £15 and just posted them off, so total is 1008 items

Gosh everyone is doing so well. I have an extremely rare visitor to my house tomorrow so there's going to be some manic tidying in the morning!

Bought all the kids some new clothes, still lots for them to try on just sitting about. Then some things can go back. I ordered a dress to try for the funeral and normally I'd buy a few to get the most from postage. Didn't do that so that's a win

IndianSummer78 · 12/06/2023 21:41

Putting away the laundry, I decided to let go of one bedding set that doesn't match the room decor. This is such a huge thing for me. There's room for it in the storage place, it fits the bed, it's old and showing very slight signs of wear but has no faults and I like the design. But, I want to store the spare towels somewhere other than in a pile on the floor and so if I can reduce the bedding the towels can share that space. Really only two sets per bed is needed, the rest is surplus. I hate getting rid of things! 😩 Also two shrunken and mishaped face cloths will be repurposed as cleaning cloths then binned. Total is now 530

RidingMyBike · 12/06/2023 22:37

Two big baby/toddler things sold on FB Marketplace so I'm £35 up plus some nice empty space!

IndianSummer78 · 13/06/2023 10:37

A bobbled hoodie gone. Shame, it was one of my favourites. Total is 531

stealthninjamum · 13/06/2023 19:44

i can’t remember when I last posted but I got rid of a sandpit last week and some sand. I also sold some playmobil. The last couple of days I have been sorting out more playmobil to sell or give away if it’s an incomplete set.

Today I did a quick declutter of the kitchen. I finished decluttering it a couple of years ago but have chucked out a few bits recently.

  • old gone off icing
  • an old bowl that belongs to exh
  • a gone off Vicks vaporub
  • some old magazines
  • a very scruffy, rusty baking tray

Im so pleased I put the toaster away as we rarely use it. I also have so much space in the saucepan drawer since I got rid of some pans recently that I can now keep my stick blender and hand mixer. Neither have had a place before and seemed to move around the kitchen.

dd1 has been helping to repot the herbs I bought for the new herb garden and I have also bought some bamboo which I intend to leave in pots against a large wall we have.

Out a couple of things :
-1 biscuit tin
-1 finished book
-1 old oven tray
-2 jam jars from a school summer fair
-1 pair of DH old pyjamas
-2 bottles of old cough medicine
-1 old food disposal cap

I need to fold week’s worth of clean laundry and there should be some outs from there again…

CornedBeef451 · 14/06/2023 09:10

This is such a lovely thread, well done everyone!

My DPs are actually getting rid of stuff. I've been dropping hints for a few years as I've decluttered my house and it seems to have paid off. Their house is tidy but extremely densely packed, every cupboard is well organised but jammed with things.

DSister stays over once a week and apparently has taken loads of stuff to the charity shop for them.

Yesterday I left there with two pairs of summer trousers and a t shirt to dispose off, not worn since the 1980s. This is amazing progress!

DF is having a new recliner and footstool and is actually getting rid of his old one, the matching footstool AND the footstool from the last recliner that has been in the corner unused for approximately 15 years.

I'm very happy they're doing it and it was my idea but also slightly unnerved as they are preparing for infirmity/death.

On Saturday I have 3 bags of random things for the charity shop. It's mostly DS' outgrown clothes, jeans that are too big for me and then random items like a Clarke's foot measurer I bought during lockdown as both DCs needed new school shoes when the schools reopened. Plus a book on decluttering that DH bought me for Christmas, 3 years after I started decluttering and a year since I got rid of a hundred or so books!

IndianSummer78 · 14/06/2023 13:41

This morning I passed through the accessories drawer again. Out goes:

A scarf that leaves lint on all my wool coats, creating work for me to remove it.
A pashmina used for a wedding a decade ago, it's lovely but I've never used it since.
A baseball cap with a motif on it that I've never worn, it just doesn't suit my personality.
A pair of worn out gloves for the bin.

Hi all. I have no idea how many items I’ve discarded, but I am going section by section in my house. Huge charity collection coming on Monday and skip being delivered on Friday. Have done one cupboard in DDs room, 2 cupboards in our room, conservatory and kitchen drawers. Feels good!!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 14/06/2023 19:30

One T-shirt sold on Vinted and 10 kids tops freecycled.

Nordicmom · 14/06/2023 23:02

It’s my birthday so I have been out for the day but did of course clean before leaving . Was going to cancel all the plans due to the heat because of my health issues but booked a driver for the day to make getting around easier and went . Neither the restaurant or my activity venue had aircon on as far as I could tell ,just big windows open to outside so I was bathed in sweat during the activity with my friend but we had a good time so I’m glad we did it . Got some lovely cakes on the way back , DH cooked a lovely dinner then did cake and presents with the kids .
This weekend we are going away without them and it’ll be a nice change of scenery , no house work or cooking for a bit . Then I still have a lunch with 2 friends and another with the kids left when we’ll celebrate also DS A-level exams ending ! All his has been arranged by me though as it always is if I want anything to happen around here …

A few more things going out :
-3 mini cocktail bottles to my friend we won’t have
-1 empty hamper basket I’ll put on Olio ( haven’t for a while now but we’ve had great success with it before , everything has gone )
-3 too large new water canisters will also go on Olio
-some new clothes will be returned
-2 packets of food, 1 dog treat to foodbank
-1 broken dog toy ( will have to go through the rest he just got his monthly toy and treat box so that’s when I normally declutter some old ones )
-1 old medicine

IndianSummer78 · 15/06/2023 01:55

A few more before bedtime.

Dress that's scratchy
Top that isn't really me
Cardigan that's unflattering

Two pairs of too small trousers gone today. Total is 544

Realfastfoodie · 15/06/2023 18:57

Well done everyone. I have got a few bags to sort tomorrow, from little mini sorts this week that I haven’t had time to get out the door. Hopefully it will help!!

Pigtailsandall · 15/06/2023 20:57

I'm trying to wear through everything I own, and particularly everything I'm on the fence about, to see what I like. I took all my underwear out of the drawer and doing a daily lucky dip - I HAVE to wear that pair. So in the bin went today's pants because they were uncomfortable. I'm ruthless and will only keep underwear that is comfortable. If I excuse a pair it goes automatically in the bin because if not today, when?

Total is 1009.

I'm 37 weeks so baby is nearly here well will be in a few weeks. Helped my mum sort her clothes out when it should have been me sorting my own out. Took out 2 bin bags full of clothes because honestly her wardrobes were overflowing like crazy. She gave me a bag full of stuff too which I said I'd take but I donated it because it wasn't great stuff. I feel guilty but it's okay. She then told me I could have some of her nicer things but didn't give it me because my sister would see and get jealous (how childish)and that I should take it another time. I won't take it. It's just clutter for me. My family have a habit of donating me things that people have given them that they don't want. I feel guilt sometimes...I've mentioned before... but it's better for my mental health to take it to a charity shop. I hope there are some of you on here that can empathise with me.

I did do a bit of decluttering this morning today but was really sick so my 6 year old ended up putting everything in the laundry bin. Bless her heart (she's got chicken pox at the moment but still so helpful). I'll write down what I got rid of tomorrow but I feel a bit sad because I got her clothes from the sales and they don't last that long. Some of the things she's probably worn like 3 times and they've either torn due to poor stitching or shrunk ( they've not been tumble dried). I'm going to start paying more for better quality, buying less and returning clothes that are poor quality.

IndianSummer78 · 16/06/2023 01:43

Ordered some bedding and some clothes I didn't need then recycled the catalogue. Total is 545

RidingMyBike · 16/06/2023 08:15

@heartbroken22 I've found it's more economical to buy more expensive children's brands secondhand and then sell them on again. A lot of it you can even sell on as a playwear bundle if it does get stained or has a hole in! But it's well made so lasts much better.

I have a list for each size of what she needs and tick off what I've already got for her. That stops me getting tempted by yet another cute top when I've already got several for her! Then have saved searches set up for Frugi, Boden, Kite and PolarnoPyret on EBay and Vinted. There are also seller groups for these brands on Facebook.
