How do I clean light wooden floors?

I’ve noticed that areas we walk a lot on our wooden floors are a lot darker than the areas behind doors / not walked on as much which still look light and fresh.

I don’t think water alone is going to get it clean so what should I use? White vinegar diluted in water or is that going to ruin it?

The floor is similar to the attached photo.

Thank you!

What is the finish - oiled, waxed, varnished? And is the floor solid wood, or engineered?

Just rue the day you got wooden floors. I've not found anything that cleans them properly. I cannot wait to change them for something more practical!

I'll be watching with interest to see if anyone can offer any solutions!

if you know the manufacturer or supplier, then I would contact their customer services and ask - or check on the website for faqs first.
Failing that, I would do an old fashioned hands and knees on floor approach and clean using some well diluted washing up liquid in warm water and a well wring out microfibre cloth, just to bring it back to clean. After that maintain it using a (water filled possibly add a dash of flash) spray mop with microfibre cloth flat head. That’s what I’ve done on our solid wood floors.

Is it possible that the floor is worn or marked, as opposed to ingrained dirt from heavy/high traffic footfall?

Mine are darker but I use Method wooden floor cleaner and a mop. I can’t say if it will do the job on yours because mine don’t show dirt as much, but they come up clean and smelling nice.

It doesn't look dirty to me 😳
I use fairy liquid on mine

Not my actual floor! Just a photo from Google.

I THINK oiled….. it doesn’t have a glossy hard shiny finish. More matt/natural shine
