How do I get rid of an old piano.

It still plays well, but we don’t use it anymore. There are so many on gumtree that I don’t mind giving it away, but to who? Anyone managed to get rid of their 15 yr old upright? Thanks

My grandpa made theirs into a rocking horse for me using the rounded keys cover bit cut in half to make the round body. The legs, rocking base etc were cut out of the wood. Mane and tail were string. Bits of leather made a basic saddle and bridle. I still have it nearly 50 years later. They were the make do and mend generation!

we re trying to get rid of a piano and so far 2 people have come and looked but declined

You’d be surprised. I saw some kids and a parent rolling a circular hay bale past my house - heading for horse field a few roads away. Those things are not light!

We were given one by a friend's mum. The guy who transported it to us also tuned it so two jobs in one. Was quite pricey iirc...

We eventually gave ours away on Freecycle. Someone wanted it because their daughter had asked for lessons. They got it out and put it on a trailer themselves.
