Brabantia or Simplehuman bin

bilbi · 06/03/2023 21:21

It's time to replace my 30l kitchen bin.
I can't decide between Brabantia Vs Simplehuman, as would like to buy something that will last long and perform well.
Please share your experience. Many thanks!

Simple human ones are fantastic. They just don't break and stay looking like new.

alrightnowthen · 06/03/2023 21:25

I recommend the simple human one too.

My simplehuman is 9 years old and looks like new. Do factor in the cost of bags though, I’ve just paid £18 for 60.

Agree and agree ;-)

We have this one -

I have simple human and just use normal bags from the supermarket. We only put a liner in the smaller side though as we use the other side for paper recycling.

SleepingisanArt · 06/03/2023 21:35

I have a bigger 60l Brabantia - it's been in the kitchen for over a decade (just realised 15 years!). Looks as good as new and works great. Can buy bin bags which fit it in the supermarket.

NomadicSpirit · 06/03/2023 21:40

I bought two simple human bins and returned both as they both had a defect that meant the lid didn't close fully. It seemed to be a common issue judging from the reviews. I wanted to like them, but I was disappointed and thought they were over priced.

End up with another brabantia that replaced my previous 10 year old brabantia which was still fine but I wanted a pedal bin.

userxx · 06/03/2023 21:40

My Brabantia bin is over 10 years old and still looks good.

Inca22 · 06/03/2023 21:44

I have the same SimplyHuman bin as PP and I love it. It is expensive and the bags are not cheap - but I can't express how much I love my bin. Yes. Seriously.

bossybloss · 06/03/2023 21:46

I have had a Bravantia bin for about 16 years. I think they have a lifetime guarantee.

Badger1970 · 06/03/2023 21:46

We stayed in a holiday cottage and loved the bin so much that we bought one when we got home (Simple human). I do find that their own bags just fit so much better than others so I bulk buy. It's about 5 years old and as good as the day we got it.

WedonttalkaboutMaureen · 06/03/2023 21:47

Our Brabantia bin is older than my mid teen child and still going strong.

Don't know anyone with a Simplehuman to compare sorry.

Same here

I love my simple human 6l bathroom bins though:

These have also lasted many years.

TwooTwitt · 06/03/2023 21:50

I've had both. I find the Brabantia ones (have had two) require more effort not to smell. The Simple Human one never had a lingering smell but the electric opening mechanism broke after 5 years.

Got a Brabantia one now. The one on legs. Really like it!

littlbrowndog · 06/03/2023 21:50

Brabantia since my mum bought it for me ten years ago. The top stopped working so I emailed them hoping I could get a new top to buy They sent me one for free. 😃. That was best customer service ever

pompei8309 · 06/03/2023 21:53

Brabantia Bo is the best especially if you have underfloor heating , I hate the smell of rubbish in the kitchen so small works best for me .By the time you fill a massive 60L one it will stink

ChicoryDip · 06/03/2023 21:55

I think our Brabantia bin must have been going for close to 18 years and still looks good. Have had to replace the plastic catch a couple of times but that's easy to do.

evemillbank · 07/03/2023 11:39

I also use normal binbags with my simple human bin. There's no need to buy the branded ones

NotMyFIrstTIme · 07/03/2023 17:56

I've got this SimpleHuman bin but with a black plastic lid. Bought from Asda, iirc, and cost about half the price of the one linked to, albeit nearly 6 years ago.
I must admit I love their own bags because they fit so well and are tough.

angela99999 · 17/03/2023 15:31

Definitely Simplehuman, I've had the two compartment recycling one for over 15 years and it is like new. Now I also have an identical one with just one compartment too, so I can collect all my rubbish and recycling in the two of them. Big enough to hold a week's rubbish/recycling and the lid is a good fit so it doesn't smell. Expensive but worth it, I also buy the sized bag to go in the section where I put my landfill rubbish. Obviously the recycling sections don't need bags.

Exactly the same here!
Was astounded by how good they were
