Washing cleaning cloths

We have separate cleaning cloths for kitchen and bathroom/floors. I used to wash these in two separate loads but feel like it’s a waste of time, energy and water as neither load is full (even if I put tea towels in with kitchen and dog blankets with bathroom/floors). I wash on 60 with bio liquid and dettol laundry liquid. Do others wash their cloths separately or chuck them in together? Ta!

I do a long wash at 60 with Bio powder and stick them in together.

Beamur · 04/03/2023 14:32

I just sort washing into two types. Light and dark.
It goes in dirty and comes out clean.

Arapawa · 04/03/2023 14:47

I do keep them separate. Put dishcloths, kitchen cleaning cloths (not floor) in with towels or bedding and wash at 60.

I don's use cloths for cleaning the loos. I put floor cloths usually in with a dark wash at 40.

You put kitchen FLOOR cleaning cloths in with t towels 🤢

put all the FLOOR cleaning cloths in together. They're all cleaning FLOORS.

I think you're just trying to get lots of frothing, probably shouldn't reply.

…eh?!

Floor cloths are floor cloths whatever room’s floor they’ve cleaned!

I wash all cleaning cloths together, of whatever variety, quite often with tea towels or bathroom towels too. Hot wash, detergent, life is too short to worry yourself unnecessarily about germs.

Same. Cloths. Towels. Clothes. Underwear. All in together.

Bemyclementine · 04/03/2023 15:01

I chuck them in with whatever else I'm washing. I'd need about 200 cloths otherwise, I'd I wanted to make a load.

PaulaPaola · 04/03/2023 15:02

I wash that kind of stuff with towels and bedding on 60c. 60 is considered enough to kill germs on real nappies so I'm sure it's fine for a floor cloth!

This 😊

amiold · 04/03/2023 15:02

I don't fanny on with it anymore. I just wash them with the washing
I work on the theory if I peed myself I'd wash the clothes I had on, with clothes and towels that need washed.. so do the same for cloths

WithIcePlease · 04/03/2023 15:03

I just put them in with whatever is going in at the time

Madamecastafiore · 04/03/2023 15:05

There's a bag you can get from Lakeland that you put cleaning clothes in when washing so no dirt or lint escapes. Just turn bag out afterwards and wipe off any thing that's in there.

Fourfurrymonsters · 04/03/2023 15:15

I’m in my 50’s and have managed to not kill my self or any of my family by putting floor cleaning cloths in with the normal towels/dishcloths etc so it’s all good. It goes in dirty, it comes out clean, that’s all I need to know.

I chuck everything in together, unless your washing machine is broken things go in dirty and come out clean.

But I accept you’ll no doubt spontaneously combust at that suggestion.

Same, nobody is dead yet :)

What’s the point of cleaning them if the dirt doesn’t rinse away? Honestly people will buy anything!

Madamecastafiore · 04/03/2023 15:25

Changingplace it does, it's not on the cloths but if there is lint or dust it's on the inside of the bag. My cleaner suggested it and has used them for many years and as she's the one that uses the clothes most I get what she requests.

I'd rather the crap be on the inside of a bag than the cloths or getting dragged through my washing machine.

Honestly the lack of understanding on how germs are dealt with is mad.

soap. Soap. Soap. It break the stuff apart and then it is no longer an issue.

icelollycraving · 04/03/2023 19:50

I put cleaning cloths in to one wash, 60 degrees with dettol and biological powder.
I use kitchen roll and sponges in bathroom, they get used and binned.

boboshmobo · 04/03/2023 19:51

I was cleaning cloths with towels and bedding . I save them up for the weekly towel wash

Can you explain what the issue is here? Why can’t you put towels and floor cloths in together? Is this a joke?

RosesAndHellebores · 04/03/2023 23:01

The cleaner puts the cleaning cloths in a plastic bag with steam mop cloth thing (we have three of those). Every three weeks they go on a 95° wash with aerial bio. It gives the machine a good clean too. Then they go in the tumbler and I fold them nicely and put them in the clean cloth cupboard for the cleaner.

Towels and bedding 60°
Lights 40°
Darks 30°

DappledThings · 04/03/2023 23:04

I chuck them in with whatever load is going on. Towels, clothes, bedding, whatever

IncessantNameChanger · 04/03/2023 23:05

Unless ots had a harsh cleaning product on it that might bleach colour, it goes in with everything else. I don't use cloths on the loo or loo floors.
