Washing machine, bleach, disinfectant? boiling water? Something else? What do you clean them in? What's the best way you've found?

I put a tiny bit (few drops) of bleach in cold water, soak for a few minutes (while I’m doing other kitchen stuff) and then rinse
plus when doing a hot or towel wash I put them through the machine

onepieceoflollipop · 18/02/2023 08:28

^^ that’s for dishcloth
if doing a load of cloths I’d put them through a 60 wash with towels , or a quick wash with tiny bit of bleach.

60 degree wash with added dettol laundry. Just cloths, not with anything else.

Galadriel90 · 18/02/2023 08:51

Machine wash at 60 with tea towels and any white hand towels.

flowerbob · 18/02/2023 08:53

I use e cloths so pop them I'm a basket next to the machine and wash them on their own once a week at 60.

SausageRoll2020 · 18/02/2023 08:54

They go in the washing machine with the towel wash

I do this too.

If they're especially manky, I add a pre-wash with bleach.

plumduck · 18/02/2023 08:55

Washing machine with some of the dettol stuff

Koalaslippers · 18/02/2023 09:07

Washing machine with other reusable clothes (make up pads, kids wipes etc) at 40 with laundry cleanser.

DRS1970 · 18/02/2023 09:16

39 min in the washing machine with a small amount of bio powder.

wwyd2021medicine · 18/02/2023 09:31

I put them in the washer at 40 with whatever else is going in at the time.

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/02/2023 09:32

Dishcloths and teatowels with a whites wash at 90, normal detergent. I never use bleach (allergies) and this seems to keep them fresh. When they get holes in they are relegated to the bathroom.

I have spare pads for my steam cleaner so I save them up until I need to wash a load of bathroom cloths and they go in together in a 60 wash without detergent. The pads aren't supposed to be washed in detergent and I reckon the cloths will be fine with a hot rinse. ( No they don't go round the inside of the loo!)

They go in the washing machine with the towel wash

Same. With some dettol laundry cleanser

inappropriateraspberry · 18/02/2023 09:37

I just wash them in the machine. Why do they need special treatment?

BooksAndHooks · 18/02/2023 09:39

They go in the washing machine at the end of each day.

OchreDandelion · 18/02/2023 09:41

I put them through the dishwasher (same with brushes)

RattlewhenIwalk · 18/02/2023 09:43

I use microfibre cloths. They and the mop head go in the machine Standard 40 wash.

crochetmylifeaway · 18/02/2023 09:45

I used to bleach them but since I got a composite sink that I can't expose to bleach I stick them in the wash.

Changed from traditional cloths to microfiber ones and change then every few days.

declutteringmymind · 18/02/2023 09:45

I clean the sinks at night, put the plug in and throw them in a few inches of water with a dot of bleach overnight.

Ifailed · 18/02/2023 09:50

Remember the advice for covid - wash your hands with detergent (soup)? Bio washing powder at a normal wash will kill off bacteria and virus, no need for anything special.

SaltyGod · 18/02/2023 09:58

Soak with some bleach first and they go in the normal wash with other clothes.

SundayNightDrama · 18/02/2023 10:03

Wash on a hot wash in the machine

Highlyflavouredgravy · 18/02/2023 10:06

They go in the washing machine with the towels and tea towels at 60

Nannyfannybanny · 18/02/2023 10:24

Was actually reading this, wondering if you were talking about flannels. I know some people call them wash cloths. The only thing we have is noodle mitts, for car and window washing, they are dark colours, and filthy, they just get a wash out in the sink.j cloth used for some washing up, soapy water and hung on tap to dry, scourer sponge in the dishwasher. My towels were expensive, Sanderson, embroidered, some have silk, they go on a 40c. Dark washing...cold cycle. It's the agitation and washing liquid that cleans, you don't wash your hands in boiling water!

AdoraBell · 18/02/2023 10:26

Washing machine, I wash them with towels on a hot wash.
