Spilt milk in car smell

Help, I spilt milk in the footwell of my car a couple of weeks ago and and it still stinks. Have tried various cleaning methods to no avail. Has anyone successfully resolved this problem? Thank you.

I did this once. The way to get rid of it is with vinegar. The car smells of vinegar for quite a while but is better than the sour milk smell which is grim. Weirdly and fortunately for me I like vinegar.

I think a professional valet is probably the only thing that will sort it.
The carpet will need cleaning.

Oh god this happened to us, and it just got worse. You need one of those enzyme cleaners. That made a big difference but I could always detect a faint whiff. Good luck

Dr Beckmans pet carpet shampoo to clean it. Let it dry then put bicarbonate of soda on it to get rid of the smell. Leave the bicarbonate of soda as long as possible then hoover it up. Nothing worse than spilt milk.

Burn it down! We had this and I could not shift it. I tried everything. Not kidding. We traded it in online and got rid of it.

I had this and called out mobile professional valet who did a brilliant job

Try neat zoflora. the whole bottle poured on the carpet and use a scrubbing brush to work it in to the fibres.

We nearly had to sell our car after this happened to us! It was truly awful! DH fixed it by scraping the cheesy residue out of all the cracks and using zoflora.

I know of someone who spilt milk on the car seat, had to get it changed as they ended up with maggots in there Shock

I did this, smelled horrendous! I'm afraid nothing shifted it but it faded after a while. Thankfully traded it in about 6 months after. Grim.

Thanks all. Been for a valet today, seems promising so far.

I had this too and I tried everything (the absolute worst thing to spill) and eventually the very cold snap we had in December seems to have killed it off. I did once read that smelly Birkenstock sandals could be put in a freezer to kill off the bacteria so perhaps that worked the same in my car?

Northernlurker · 21/02/2023 07:56

My parents did this. They had to sell the car Grin
