This is probably a stupid question but I’m looking for recommendations for an iron. The one I have was cheap and spits limescale. I also think the temperate dial is broken. Basically I don’t trust it.

I’ve recently come into some expensive shirts etc and don’t want to ruin them! I can’t spend crazy money but just wanted a recommendation if anyone can help

We live in a hard water area, and I use deionised water diluted half and half with topwater as advised in manuals. I descale regularly and I don't use scented ironing water. I've had a number of Tefals that have been brilliant while they've worked, but none has lasted more than 3-4 years.

I have a Morphy Richards steam generator iron that has not started spitting brown water yet - it runs itself through a descale programme rather than me having to do it as I have with other irons. That's less of a faff.

I used to descale regularly until I starting using the water from our dehumidifier. Same for our steam cleaner. No scale anymore.
