Hi all
I really hate to be contributing to the climate change problem but I definitely need one of these for peak heat times this summer. Any recommendations?
Thanks

it depends on the size of your home so a bit more info is needed.
we have a/c with all the duct work in the crawlspace the unit is large 3ftx31/2ft located at the side of the house.
my brother has a different set up with his wall mounted a/c ducted through the roof.
my mother and son use smaller units that fit in windows and are only suitable for 1 room.
the larger units not only need duct work but wiring and enough power.

Yeah. I did a stack of research for the one I bought in last year's heat wave. Over the winter I've been using the dehumidifier function of it as a cheap way to dry clothes.

I bought a midea mpph7-09crn7. It's A rated on energy b and it's expected to be the big name in AC units in the future due to their office and quality.

I'm just thinking about a small portable one for an average sized room to make the hottest days bearable :)

That one I bought is portable. They have to be a certain size to be able to chill an average sized room on a hot day.

@Mentalblip know the square ft of the room, think about the venting and go with a shop that has a good return policy just in case something quits.
for me that would be Costco or Home Depot.

This is probably a good time to get a subscription to Which?

The portable ones are not all that useful. It's also an arseache getting them set up to vent outside. I'd choose a window a/c ahead of portable.

I'd get a window unit and put it in your bedroom.
