Best vacuum cleaner?

Boring thread alert!

My dyson has died and I'm wanting recommendations for a replacement please!

Would prefer cordless and we have pets, plus 4 females in the house, so it needs to be good at getting hair up!

I had a shark cordless which was great for 6 months then useless - we've just bought a Charles hoover (from the Henry range) seems good and cheap enough to replace if it dies!
I've heard most people rave about Miele hoovers, not cordless though

Interesting. The sharks have a 5 year guarantee.... what happened after 6 months?
My dyson has been mostly fab, just problems with hair getting wrapped round it a lot!

I switched from a Dyson corded to a Shark anti hair wrap lift away corded. A million times better than the Dyson which I found too heavy.

I also have a Dyson animal stick which I hate! I literally have to wash the filter after ten minutes of use. When I get fed up with that I'll switch to Shark.

I've also got a Henry which I bought when my old dog was around, before I bought the Shark, I use it for the car these days.

I'll see if I can find the model I have but I really rate it.

This one, best vacuum cleaner I've ever had. I went for corded as I need it to be able to do my whole house when my cleaner comes (who rates it too).

Yes indeed. I have a Miele (not cordless) and I love it. I never find cordless vacuum cleaners very effective, and I really hate uprights as they're so cumbersome and heavy. My Miele is perfect for me.

Miele and don't bother with cordless. Waste of time.

High fives @Youpillock Grin

We have had a Miele Cat and dog for many years, it's great. I wouldn't go back to an upright again, cylinders are much less hard work. We also had a Dyson cordless which was awful, the charge didn't last and it had poor suction.

Not a Dyson cordless. Mine is rubbish, I only use it for sofa crumbs and the stairs now. Stairs you need it on boost to do a half decent job and I can just about do all the steps quickly before it dies.
I've got a Henry Xtra for the rest of the house.

I've found my dyson ok, but to be fair I usually do the house in two halves so it doesn't have to last that long

Thanks everyone. I like the cordless for the ease of grabbing it to hoover up mid off the childrens wellies or dinner crumbs without having to go to the hassle of gettimg out and plugging in a corded one which would likely be stored under the stairs

I like the Dyson cordless. The battery loses charge quickly if you charge it when the motor is hot. If you charge it when the motor is cold it should continue to hold the charge for a decent amount of time.

I feel you, pet hair can be a real challenge. I recently found a cordless gem on spairobot.com that's been a lifesaver for me and my furry friend. It's super effective at picking up pet hair and the battery life is solid. Definitely worth checking out for your needs!

Vorwerk! I'm on my second one, first one lasted 20 years and only replaced because the builders dropped something on it and the head smashed. It was £1600 though 😳
