Why does my bedding smell greasy after a while?

Wash at 60 with fairy pods and laundry cleanser (which I'm slightly obsessed with).

Bedding has that awful musty, greasy smell after about 6 months.

What am I doing wrong and is there anyway to get rid of it please?

As above but also air outside when weather is dry. Especially in sun, even in winter. Obviously won't dry during winter but will smell good. Uv is an excellent anti bacterial as well.

And totally agree soda crystals are brilliant if you’re in a hard water area - about a tablespoon in with the powder on every wash; kinder on your clothes and keeps your washing machine in good nick.

I think she means she cleans regularly and they still smell… 🙄

It’s the conditioner, pod products etc clinging to the fibres. Do a strip wash and just use normal detergent powder.

To be fair, in the absence of any sort of info as to how often she does wash, it wasn’t an entirely illogical conclusion to jump to! Grin

I don’t understand the point of softeners and laundry cleansers - they do more harm than good.

Detergent powder and either dried outside in the fresh air, or quickly in an efficient dryer. And with either method - until it’s bone-dry.

I don’t care if it’s a class signifier as per the other thread that’s still running - draping linen inside to dry over an extended period is not a good way to dry it.

I found my washing started to smell off so I did everything to remedy it. I deep cleaned the machine, used vinegar, baking soda etc but the smell wouldn't shift.

I changed from pods to powder and the washing smelt fresh again.
