Apologies if this has been asked before but does anyone have any tips on how to get stains out of a white school polo?

It is mainly fat stains from food and sauce and crayon.
I already tried a boil wash with bio laundy detergent.

Any tips please?

Soak in a lot of vanish, wash with more vanish and then leave in sunlight.

Have you tried a bit of washing up liquid direct on the stains and then through a wash?

That usually does it.

theemmadilemma · 05/02/2023 11:11

For just the grease stain.

Bafflingpineapplecow · 05/02/2023 11:12

Thank you so much! Shall try this.
Haven't used vanish before

I'll try that one now, thank you!

Fairy liquid rubbed into the stains before machine washing. Then hang outdoors so that the sun will bleach them.

Do you know if this works on older fat stains too?

Whatislove82 · 05/02/2023 11:18

They’re so cheap I’d use this one as a household rag and buy a new one

touterustome · 05/02/2023 11:18

Vanish is the only thing that works and it works brilliantly. I love thé bars but they do a spray nos I think that's specifically aimed at grease stains. Tbh though if you've baked them in by washing it already then you might be stuffed

touterustome · 05/02/2023 11:19

Fairy liquid is a good second bet if you're caught with no vanish

Oh god I didn't even know you could bake them in. I haven't got any vanish to hand but will buy some later. I'll try the washing up liquid first.

Fairy liquid did the trick! Just come out the wash and all stains are gone. For the poster who has asked whether this works on old stains, it apparently does as some of the fat stains were quite old. Thanks everyone!

Stands to reason that if fairy liquid gets grease off plates then it will get grease off fabrics.

No it doesn’t “stand to reason”

a plate is a smooth ceramic surface

clothing is textured and very quickly absorbs stains

Thank you! I’ve just tried it on some old stains so I will report back 🤓

On the Stacey Solomon show they suggested rubbing white chalk onto grease stains on white fabric.
