we've just ahd the Mouse Man in to put bait down

cost £100

but we weren't paying

anorak · 06/02/2008 13:10

eeew

Which house?

I've found when I had this in the past that finding any holes and filling them up is the best way, but put down poison too.

anorak · 06/02/2008 13:11

Hi anorak (dps)

The dishwasher pipe is there do you think that is where they came in?

DP been told not to come home from work without something to get rid of them.
Think I might ask DH1 for custody of the cats!!!!

Will try msn later, got to go to Drs (they want my gall stones) then school run.
I lead an exciting life, How is Bermuda!

OP posts:
anorak · 06/02/2008 13:24

If there is even a slight margin around the pipe they can get in. They squash themselves almost flat.

Fill up the gap with something they can't chew.

got time for a quick chat or not?

anorak · 06/02/2008 13:25

oops cross posted, ok, have to go into town soon, will look for you later on msn.

Bramshott · 06/02/2008 13:28

Wire wool is good for stuffing in the gaps.

whoops · 06/02/2008 13:32

I found one of our cupboards had a mouse it had eaten through 2 tubs of playdoh and a tube of bonjela if that hasn't killed it I have now put poison down for it!

Kimi · 07/02/2008 17:44

So DP wonders home last night with a mouse trap!!!!!!!

A frigging trap, does he think this is tom and Jerry?????

I want poison and lots of it...

Have stuffed pipe holes with brillo pads due to not having wire wool, do you think that might work and stop them coming in.

OP posts:
ArrietyClock · 07/02/2008 17:59

No, Tom and Jerry is good, really. Poison 'em and they crawl off to die and then you have to take the house to pieces looking for them because they smell hideous....

Like the brillo pads!!

Kimi · 07/02/2008 18:07

He had baited it with a hob nob!!!

OP posts:
jellycat · 07/02/2008 18:16

Traps are good, at least you know the whereabouts of the body and can get rid of it (we have mice at the moment too). We have `Big cheese' traps which are v. easy to use (pre-baited and you don't have to touch the body just squeeze the trap and body is released - can't find a photo online but they look a bit like a bulldog clip).

Kimi · 07/02/2008 18:35

Jelly that sounds like what DP got, the hobnob is not in the trap it is just by it,

I was beside myself yesterday, I hate mice, they pee on everything.

Also I have ocd and I really hate anything dirty, I know they have only been there a week or so as that was when I last stocked up with kitchen roll and clothes.

Have been on a dettol frenzy.

OP posts:
jellycat · 07/02/2008 21:31

Hope you manage to get rid of them quickly. It is horrible isn't it. They had been all over our house while we were away at the weekend and nibbled 2 cuddly toys (amongst other things) (luckily not much-loved toys which we had taken with us!).

The instructions on our traps suggest using sultanas and chocolate as bait if they don't go for the bait they come with.

Kimi · 08/02/2008 12:35

As long as they are not religious mice and have given up chocolate for lent it might work.

OP posts:
MascaraOHara · 08/02/2008 12:43

council get rid of mice for £40 and have a 3 month guarentee (in my area anyway)

I seem to have mice on a semi-permenant basis

Kimi · 08/02/2008 12:50

well no droppings or anything since i chucked out the kitchen roll and went mad with the dettol maybe it has gone........ please say it has gone......

OP posts:
Gingermonkey · 08/02/2008 12:57

dirty cow. I bet you have rats too.

Kimi · 08/02/2008 13:49

I don't mind the rats, I have a really good deal going with the local take away for those

Hows it all going GM ?

OP posts:
Gingermonkey · 08/02/2008 15:06

ha ha! It's going well here in monkey house. Busy sewing away, as usual, and hanging out in A&C.
I liked the 'which house' comment down there. Makes you look like a right flash cow, doesn't it? (Or a bigamist )
How's you? Apart from the mice/mouse (I'm trying to be optimistic that it was just the one) of course
