Is it possible to hire an extra large bin?

The extra large kind that businesses use? 1000 litres of there abouts. I'd like to hire one for a few weeks. However they all seem to be commercial hire only. A skip isn't an option so this would be ideal . Anyone managed to hire one before?

How would you get it emptied?

Have you looked at Hippo bags, if a skip isn’t an option?

They are usually contract but yes assume you can hire something as they are used at e.g. festivals.

When you say they are 'commercial' what do you mean - what is the alternative to 'commercial' you are hoping for?

Ihatepcos · 16/01/2023 19:33

What do you need it for?

Commercial is business only. For commercial premises. I'm looking for household

The companies that hire them to commercial premises also empty them. Where I work we hire a 1200 litre bin and it's emptied weekly. However they won't do this for households sadly!

To store the broken bodies of my enemies.

Only joking 😋 Just general waste for a few weeks.

I came on here to suggest a Hippo bag as well, just call them to arrange a collection when its full.

I'd also recommend a Hippo Bag, they really are fantastic.

Notjusta · 20/01/2023 16:25

Yup you need a hippo bag!

NoSquirrels · 20/01/2023 16:30

They won’t hire to households because it’s a contract thing, rather than a skip or hippo bag which is a one-time collection deal, built into the price. If you’ve got room for a big commercial size wheelie bin, you’ve definitely got space for a hippo bag.

In Bristol you used to be able to do this, hire a 1100 litre bin and have it emptied, but that scheme is paused at the moment. bristolwastecompany.co.uk/business/our-services/1100l-residential-bins/

Depends what it's for, most won't take building material waste, it's only for normal non recycling waste
