I've recently got a bed from a family member and it's got a bit of a damp smell coming from it. I've tried baking soda as I read thats supposed to absorb the smell but it hasn't worked. Does anyone have anythibg that has worked with this type of thing. TIA

After a disaster with a Vax carpet cleaner and a floor carpet that went damp - I was 6 weeks pregnant and the smell still haunts me! All I can recommend is TONNES of baking powder, there was this pet smell vamoosh style carpet powder that worked in the end! I am sure they could be used on a mattress?

White wine vinegar is meant to take the smells out of things but not sure how you then remove the white wine vinegar smell! Maybe pet fabreeze?

Also, Dettol spray is what I spray on our mattress and just hoover it off when I make the beds!
