White cotton towels look burnt

forrestgreen · 12/01/2023 16:00

I've put my white cotton towels through the wash and drier today.
I think I used a different setting

And they've come out with brown/burnt marks all over.

They went in clean.

Can I fix them??

Were they stained before the drier? Is it your water? Can only suggest something like vanish. Best of luck!

No it looks like the drum got too hot and has burnt patches on the towels. The bedding all looks fine.

Our last dryer got very hot and started smoking! Dangerous and a good job we were there to see it. Maybe have it checked?

Definitely check your dryer filter. Was the setting too hot maybe?

Aquamarine1029 · 16/01/2023 15:14

Even at the hottest setting, this should not have happened. Something is wrong with your dryer, probably a faulty thermostat or heating element.

Yep I'm going to get someone round but is there any way to save the towels? (They were expensive 😩)

I would try washing them again, but if the fibres are burnt there isn't much you can do. Maybe run a de-bobbler over them to try to take the worst of the damage off?

Good idea. Thanks
