Beige lounge suits, long nails and biscuit arrangements etc

Is anyone else fed up of the nails and beige brigade showing you how to do ordinary things? Ffs I know how to stack some biscuits in a jar (if I wanted to) and I know how to wipe a skirting board. Gets my rage going…
ps those nearly stacked biscuits wouldn’t last two seconds with my two ankle biters

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about OP.

Cherryblossoms85 · 30/12/2022 11:40

I have absolutely no idea because I don't go on Instagram and I'm not lower middle class.

SBHon · 30/12/2022 12:02

Social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, etc, show you what you look at. So if you don’t want to see any more of what you currently see, start searching for something else.

WandaWonder · 30/12/2022 12:04

These ideas are being forced on you? You are not looking for them in magazines/tiktok/instagram wherever?

This. It's a bit like the politician who complained he kept seeing porn ads.

TikTok and Insta work on algorithms that feed you content you engage with. So to quote Taylor Swift, "it's me, I'mthe problems it's me"

Whee · 30/12/2022 13:51

I see these too OP! I need to actually search for more interesting things but these sorts of vids are what the algorithms throw at me, presumably because people my age who buy similar things to me like them. The hot choc stations are ridiculous - why unpackage all that stuff that will surely never get eaten? What a waste.

Twinkler78 · 30/12/2022 16:20

Nope - they just appear

They don’t’ ‘just appear’. It’s based on whatever data they have on you, what you’ve already viewed, and what other people with similar statistics to you like. Start searching for things you do like and they’ll soon disappear.

@Cherryblossoms85 calm down Charlie Big Bananas

Whatsfordinnerglutenfree · 01/01/2023 18:20

I’m intrigued about the correct way to stack biscuits, who knew! I’m also off to Google hot choc stations . Thanks op, everyday is a school day.

CoconutQueen · 01/01/2023 18:24

wtf is a hot chocolate station 😂
Re the "algorithm" - my Tiktok shows me more entertaining matter 😁

Clingfilm · 01/01/2023 21:24

'Nails and beige' *chef's kiss

Posters on about algorithms - they can also show you the crap people 'like you' look at so if you're a 35 year old woman with 2 kids it'll show what's popular with that demographic. I got loads of baby ads at one point as my friends all had babies. I didn't!

onmywayamarillo · 01/01/2023 21:26

It's an algorithm so you must watch them to have so many in your fyp?
I don't have those mine is mainly about women's rights and how they are being eroded oh and so many cooking clips love those, but o do cook a lot 🥰

Hahah I’m not in instagram FYI

not sure how lower middle class is relevant, and I wouldn’t know one if I fell over one.

A table in your kitchen filled with jars, mugs and an unbelievable amount of hot choc paraphernalia, which surely just gets in the way if nothing else. How much hot choc do people routinely drink anyway? Honestly, it's so odd!

TabithaTittlemouse · 08/01/2023 14:56

Am I the only one that loves these?
Obviously I don’t do it myself (I sit in my garish colours and watch others do it instead) but it’s relaxing! Definitely a guilty pleasure.

I think cherryblossom is a secret influencer.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 08/01/2023 15:00

I saw a video of someone neatly stacking biscuits in a jar. In a pantry where everything was decanted into identical jars with bespoke labels.

I thought 'what the jiggins is this?'

There's so much money in this vapid nothingy influencing.

Can't people who spend too much time at home looking for something to do just have a good old fashioned affair instead?
