I'm determined to get organised for 2023 and have seen people use bullet journals and family planners

Ideally I need one for me and then a family one on the wall

Also any recommendations for self help books that will help me sort out my life

Thanks!

I got really interested in bullet journalling about 4 years ago and more or less kept it up until covid. Wanting to start again.

I have an incredible memory for 'things to do' so never really bothered writing it down but with the advent of dc there was even more to do and whilst I still never forgot it my mind was forever reminding me 'don't forget to buy milk, don't forget mums birthday, remember to call aunt Mary' at the most useless times. It was overwhelming but the bullet journal solved it for me 😊

If you look for books or websites on how to bujo you'll see the vast, vast majority of it is discussing the best pen and notebooks with beautiful monthly planners that are works of art. That stuff is bloody useless if you want to do it in a practical sense.

The guy who came up with bujo (I will remember his name!) has a website with all the info you need. I think he may also have sold out a little and put his name to various wall planners so you might find what you're looking for there.

For me I needed an a5 size notebook.
First double page is divided into 12 boxes with months of the year
First single page of the month has dates down the side
(I sometimes did a weekly page too, can't remember if I found it useful)
Then I write the date each morning, carry forward tasks from yesterday and cross off as done.

I won't waffle more but would be very pleased to have a bujo support group if anyone fancies giving it a go?

Ryder Carroll

And wow, last time I looked at his site he was very critical of the bujo bandwagon, was all 'keep it simple' and 'you learn by doing it', now there are numerous courses!

I do a happy planner, it’s like a bujo but requires no set up effort.

Luredbyapomegranate · 29/12/2022 23:19

I quite like the clever fox ones

AlloftheTime · 06/01/2023 15:09

@Bunnyannesummers happy planner? Can you elaborate please?

Newusernameaug · 06/01/2023 15:11

I need this too!

Bunnyannesummers · 06/01/2023 16:11

@AlloftheTime its literally a planner brand, I use the 18 month ones in medium vertical

AlloftheTime · 06/01/2023 16:18

Cheapest lined A5 hard backed book. Wilkos or similar

A biro and a ruler

Open the book for a 2 page spread.

On the left divide the space equally for the 5 working days of the week and the last rectangle splits into 2 fit the weekend.

To do list on the right.

I set this up every Sunday and use every day. I put big projects at the back including a calender fit the year with the kids different school.holiday dates coloured in

You might also find these two apps useful if you're somewhere without your journal or want to share tasks with other family members.

Google Keep (on both Android & Apple) - like Post It notes on your phone. You can add tick boxes, labels links & pics to each note and share individual notes with other users. I have notes colour coded for school, work & family.

Life Reminders (on Android) allows you to set reminders by date & time. Also allows categories & recurring reminders. Similar to the old reminders on Nokia phones.

@@1stWorldProblems great tip about google keep
downloaded yesterday and trying it out as it looks really useful.

Ahhh I started bullet journaling for new year! So following for tips!!

I'm not at all artistic though, and have already messed up pages with scribbles. But so far (1 week in) it's working 😂😂😂
