Handheld vacuum cleaner: Shark or G-Tech or other?

Just that really. Would like one for the car primarily but will also for use on small spills or sofas etc. Don't want to go much above £150, of course lower would be even better!

Don’t buy Bosch. Ours is absolutely useless.

I just came to ask the same question!
I’m looking at the shark pet hair handheld which is under £70 but the battery life is only ten minutes.

We have a hand held shark and it's brilliant. We use it exactly as you intend to, would recommend.

I have the Shark and it doesn't suck up anything other than a few tiny crumbs. DH had high hopes for it in the car but has gone back to using the Miele.

We've got the Shark one with the pet hair attachment and it is brilliant. Really efficient. The only thing I'd say is that it has a powerful blast of exhaust air out of the sides so if you are using it sideways-on you get a faceful. Other than that, I'm pleased with it.

We've got a G Tech but I wouldn't recommend it. I have long hair and it stops every time hairs get wound round the brush.

Which one did you go for @whatausername in the end? I came to ask the same Q.

@CherryMaple I know you commented in a different year Wink but I'd love to know which Bosch you wouldn't recommend please? I was considering one.... Confused

Halo. Brilliant.

I have the Shark. Has only a 10 minute run time as it's as powerful as their standard vacs. I find it quite good although on occasion when hoovering crumbs for example it may blow some away rather than suck them up.

I have the G Tech and I love it. I have quite long hair and it doesn't seem to affect it unlike PP. I use mine mostly to hoover cat hair off my bed 🙈 but also whizz round and pick bits off the carpet and to hoover the car.

I have the G tech and it's great. We have a hairy family, lots of long hair as well as two Siberian cats. I rarely have to take out the big bulky vacuum cleaner. I like the fact it is bagged as there is no cleaning involved and it sucks brilliantly every time. However I don't use it with the long pole attachment. I use it as a handheld device and bend down to do the floors/stairs as the suction is strongest this way. I wish it had a slightly bigger capacity though.

Are you talking about a handheld or a cordless? That much vacuuming and the attachment talk is making me think a cordless cleaner?

@whatausername it's a cordless handheld but has a pole attachment.

Ah, I'm meaning this sort of thing (but not necessarily this model): www.gtech.co.uk/cordless-vacuum-cleaners/handhelds/mult

It'd make looking after the car so much quicker and easier.

Good to know that G-Techs are so well liked though!

Your link isn't working for me but hoping the above works for you @whatausername
Mine is the handheld model, no long pole attachments.

@SeasideSuzie

Sorry - just seen this. Mine is from the Bosch unlimited range.

SeasideSuzie · 24/01/2023 14:26

Ah, thanks for coming back @CherryMaple. I'd forgotten I'd asked this Grin

Dammit. It was the Unlimited range I was looking at. www.johnlewis.com/bosch-bcs712gb-unlimited-7-dual-battery-cordless-vacuum-cleaner-white/p5509663

I reckon I'll just end up getting a Henry, as he seems to come out on top of many a Mumsnet Hoover thread 😎
