Talk to me about toasters

I need a long slot 4 slice toaster, preferably with matching kettle. They all seem to have similar reviews- uneven toasting, can't fit unusually shaped bread in, or they stop working after a few months. Has anyone got a super dooper, reliable toaster? Does such a thing exist?

Anyone?

I just use the grill in my oven. Makes perfectly fine toast. You just need to keep an eye on it and remember to flip it. It's makes for one less thing cluttering up my counter top.

BarrelOfOtters · 27/12/2022 13:25

Dualit long slice toaster. Reviews are mixed but we’ve found it fine.

We had a nightmare finding a good toaster when our old faithful died. We took so many back for being awful. We now have a sage one. Ours is a normal 4 slot but I think they do the long ones. It's very good.

I've got this one

Had it for ages now and it has been fine.
As @AmazonPrim say though - the grill does just as good a job but I know I would get distracted and end up burning stuff.

I have Breville matching toaster & kettle, toaster works well & was enough to pay as I change them every 3-4 years.

NotRightNowNo · 27/12/2022 15:14

Thanks, I'm easily distracted so the grill is a bit too risky!

We have four slice Dualit that has outlasted our toasting needs. For twenty plus years, we used it every day. Now it's just occasional use, but it still works perfectly. I love that it's so simple. Our microwave is the same - just two dials. I'm the more options, programmes etc something has, the sooner it dies.

Dualit 4 slice here. ‘Long’ bread is a problem so needs to be cut in two but excellent consistency. So good we bought another one for the boat.

livingthegoodlife · 05/01/2023 20:38

Whatever you do don't buy the kitchen aid long one. About £160! And burns everything. Everyday. No matter what I do. Burnt. Hate the bloody thing.

Sage is the best

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 05/01/2023 23:26

Why do you need a matching kettle?

If you're going to chuck out a perfectly good working kettle because it won't match your new toaster, I hope you give it to a good cause.

WhereHasTheYoungMeGone · 10/01/2023 01:18

We've got a Dualit six slice toaster (you can get a four slice one too).

It's great and looks good too!

MrsMontyD · 12/01/2023 18:07

The only problem with Dualite is that they last forever, mine's still going strong after 20 odd years, I'd like a new one to match my kettle but it refuses to die.

Orcubed · 14/01/2023 07:16

We have a really basic Russell Hobbs that has lasted at least 13 years. It looks like this one.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 14/01/2023 08:28

Dualit toaster, excellent.
We have had matching kettles, but neither has lasted long..
