MY DISHWASHER WON'T START! any idea why?????

My bil gave us his old dishwasher, it always worked fine before and has worked fine for the last few weeks we've had it but now when I try to turn it on to wash it makes a whirring noise like it's gonna start washing but doesn't start washing, it just carries on making that noise! I've checked the rinse aid and the salt and the door is closed properly, any ideas?

Mine has just done that.Apparently seal on something cam e loose and water dripped affecting mechanism ot start it.Is now drying out which is bloody tedious.

oh so you think i should just leave the door open for it to dry out?

is there a problem with the water inlet pipe, or are the filters full?

It's on strike, reckons you can do the dish washing yourself. I just spoke to it, I'm the dishwasher whisperer. Also says that your dh shouldn't put his undies in it to be cleaned in secret.

lol well I just gave it a swift kick so it won't be telling any more tales, if only dh would clean his underpants himself

has it actualy finished the last wash? occasionally I open the door early before the drying has finished causing this to happen. There should be a programme cancel button somewhere?

Dal,with mine the bloke had to dismantle the bottom bit (ie under dishwasher) and mop up water (had leaked through) and leave to air.

hmm, can't see any other buttons, just the on/off one on the front, think the userguide is somewhere, maybe i should actually read it?

I have a little hope for you. My dw did this before xmas. Ive just tryed it this morning and its working again
