Listmakers/motivation thread

I’m at home today with slightly under the weather but not properly poorly preschooler. The house is cold and it’s too tempting to sit under a blanket with a supply of hot drinks.

Anyone like to join me for a bit of motivation/accountability?

Starting with a DONE list to make myself feel better 😁
Load of washing on
food delivery unpacked and put away
all up, dressed, breakfasted
dishwasher emptied and reloaded with breakfast things
curtains opened and beds made
school run

To do
take yesterday’s washing off airer and put in dryer to finish
hang up washing
clear draining board and clean sink/drainer
quick wipe of loos and sinks
hoover through
get chicken chasseur into slow cooker
put away books in dc4 room and retrieve fallen down picture from behind unit (suspect glass broke when it fell so also hoover)
quick tidy dc3 room
tidy hall
try to persuade dc4 to write some Christmas cards
put away dry laundry
look online for a new hat for dc3 as couldn’t find any in town
school run

That’s all I can think of for now, nothing major which doesn’t help the lack of motivation! Hope some people join me so I’m not talking to myself!

Do lists work? I think I'll try.

Redsquirrel5 · 19/12/2022 06:04

Yes, they do!

OP feel free to join us on Fledglings.

I ticked off most of my home list for last week. Only have a few things carrying over like finishing cards.

Going to write this weeks.

Starting today with

Make last Christmas Cake( fruit soaking and butter sugar mixed)
Label Chutney made last night( should have been made earlier in the week).
Need to make last cards and take to church. Deliver two in city. One opposite way in country.
Put two washes on.
Drop gift to Primary School and check to see if any Christmas boxes.
Load any boxes and take to church.

12:30 Go and pack forty plus boxes for Ukraine. Leaving tonight.

3:30pm Go home. Find and move boxes of Christmas crockery. Should have been done last week.
Wash towels.
Clean shower tray.
Find dining room table.
Meal: Leftovers from roast.
Make list for Friday for more veg and fruit, chocolates etc. Turkey and fish are ordered and get collected on Saturday. Veg box arrives on Wednesday but may not be everything as it is random. Last years was great.

Op. Hope this motivates me. I also write lists so I don’t forget things😁

Good luck @Redsquirrel5 ! Is fledglings fly lady? I’ve looked at it several times if so but I don’t understand what half of it means 😳. I signed up for the emails about 15 years ago but they were so wordy I wasn’t sure what I was actually supposed to be doing! Definitely up for trying if there’s an idiots guide somewhere!

@TalkToTheHand123 lists definitely work for me. I like to start with a few easy things or dones for instant satisfaction but they really help me to focus and work through one thing at a time.

Today for me:
Load of washing on
all up, dressed, breakfasted
dishwasher emptied and reloaded with breakfast things
curtains opened and beds made
take yesterday’s washing off airer and put in dryer to finish
hang up washing
clear draining board and clean sink/drainer
quick wipe of loos and sinks
playdate at dc3 friend’s house
make lunch
dust/hoover/mop hall and stairs
clean main bathroom
dust & hoover bedrooms
find pump for air bed
put away dry laundry
hoover lounge
wrap some presents
work out if there are any presents I’ve forgotten to buy (I have a feeling I’ve forgotten to buy dc2 something but can’t remember)
Cook dinner

Need a list
daily stuff:
all up etc
beds made
load of washing on
yesterdays washing out away (put in dryer if needed)
dishwasher emptied and reloaded as we go
lunch
wipe loos and sinks
hoover downstairs
dinner
kitchen clean up

before Christmas list
today:
clear clothes laundry
clean en suite
make soup
dust house
turn on wine fridge
get food delivery and try to squeeze into fridge
mop downstairs

thursday:
Wash towels
go to shop for anything not delivered
go to dms to collect presents and borrow plates
take Fridays dinner out of freezer
take recycling out
decorate Christmas cake

friday: (ils arrive)
get spare mattress out of spare room and into dc3 room
get presents out of spare room
make spare room look nice
change dc 1&2 bedding
nag dc1&2 on repeat to clean their rooms ready for guests
take Saturdays dinner out of freezer
clean bathroom
hoover through

sat: (other family arrive)
sort out beds/air beds

Ugh jobs I really should do but will put off as long as possible:
clean tops of kitchen cupboards
clean Kitchen blind
deal with mould around bedroom window
