Hi all,

Just looking for some suggestions. I just got a new cleaner for 2h/week. She's been three times so far and will come once more before xmas and then not until the new year.

How much should i give her given she's just started? She charges 14/h and is ok but not great.

Cleaner her. I usually get paid for the weeks I miss over Christmas plus gifts... But I am more than an OK cleaner!

My cleaner never wanted any time off over Christmas which was fine by me so I paid her double that week and sometimes gave her a selection box or similar for the children

£20

I gave a £25 5oby Carvery voucher. She has abusive DH who takes her cash from her. She has told me though she likes to go to Toby Carvery with her friend if her DH does not take all her money off her. Don't know why she stays with him.

I would perhaps give her cash tip. So if she does 2hr cleans maybe just round her tip to a £30 tip?

Ours is £18 an hour, I gave £80 (so two weeks rounded up) and a box of her favourite chocolates.

YellowTreeHouse · 13/12/2022 08:17

Nothing. You pay her for her work, don’t you?

I give a week’s extra money plus a little token to make it seem more gifty eg Lindt Santa.

We've had our new cleaner for 3 months and I'm planning on giving her £20 (half her weekly wages). Feel a bit tight reading the rest of this thread but it's what we can afford (I'm on Mat leave and COL) and I think we're pretty good otherwise - I.e last week she could only do half a clean as her son was ill but we paid her for a full one.

Anewhoo · 13/12/2022 08:53

Ours is quite new, but she’s great. I think I’m going to give a box of chocolates and a week’s pay.

perfect timing. Thanks for the thread @kisaki333

We have two who come through an agency and I’ve no idea what to give them. They are lovely and do a good job. I’m thinking £30 each in a card and some nice chocolates. Does this sound ok?

We pay our cleaner for the weeks she doesn't come over Xmas, Easter etc. Its basically holiday pay which seems fair enough to us. We've had her for 17 years.

We also give her M&S vouchers for Xmas as I know she likes to shop there.
