Anyone else paying £40 a week gas In a 2 bed house Heating on all day (it's cold here) and 2 baths a week

£10 a week with no heating, but cooking by gas.

It's cold here too, but resisting putting on the heating for another week if I can. We're all layered up with Oodies. Electric is another story.

Heating on all day seems excessive, are you in the uk? Are you in the house all day ? Can you use an oil radiator in one room instead of heating the whole house for part of the day?

catfunk · 23/11/2022 19:06

Also what's your thermo set at? Could you turn it down a degree or two?

AuntieDolly · 23/11/2022 19:07

Doesn't seem expensive at the current rates if it's on all day

It's first thing on a morning and evening that get chilly. I think that's a bargain £40 per week? For heating on ALL day for the entire week too. Can I move in with you?

If you don't have cavity wall insulation, I highly recommend it. We had ours done and our house got too hot after 30 minutes with the heating on. It takes quite a while to cool down once it's too hot. I moaned about it to a plumber doing the boiler service last year and he dropped down the flow temperature so the water going into our radiators is cooler. The house warms up nicely but doesn't get unbearably hot and it reduces heating costs.

It would be cheaper to turn off the radiators and just heat one room I think.

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor my nan used to do this. I can't understand the logic and not sure of you save anything but the boiler is fired up so if you only want 1 room heating OP would be better with one of those oil heaters.

But gas is cheaper than electricity at the moment?
