Are these bedbugs??

I found a couple of these on the spare bed but also a couple on a nearby houseplant so I'm really hoping they're not bedbugs. What do you think?

Nope, that’s a small beetle. Not sure what make of beetle but I’m 99% sure not a bed bug

I think they look like carpet beetles .

Have a look along the seams of your mattress and between the mattress and the headboard - that’s where you will find more, if they are bed bugs.

Thank you. I have done that and can't see any obvious live or dead ones or any of the red-brown marks I've read about online. I will look again in daylight tomorrow.

Nor carpet beetles, they are speckly, black & white and very small. The larvae are called woolly bears and look quite cute.

I don't know how big those are but have you checked for any dust or holes in anything wooden, just in case? Otherwise they look like small brown beetles.
